Our Family Gathering – Regional United Methodists Working Toward Full LGBT Inclusion
August 14, 2012
by Bradley Osborn

Click For Full Size August 16-18 – one evening, one full day and one morning-- people from three area United Methodist conferences will come together at a local church for the purpose of advancing LGBT inclusion in the denomination. The Kansas East, Kansas West and Nebraska Conferences will be represented at Asbury United Methodist for “Our Family Gathering.”

Although the conference reports are Methodist-specific, the general public is invited to attend the workshops, inspiring messages and music presentations. Thursday and Friday night's events are free.

If you are interested in attending, please contact Asbury. It is especially important that organizers have a head-count for Friday's lunch. There are nominal, suggested registration fees but if the fees are a hardship, please come to the gathering anyway.

***Biblical scholar Matthew Vines was added as a workshop presenter just days before the gathering. Vines gained some renown for his exhaustive exegesis (Old and New Testaments) that refutes the traditional clobber scriptures used as fuel for religious-based homophobia.

See the Facebook event page for details.
