Pride Across Missouri
May 22, 2009
by John Long

For the first time, Camp is publishing a two-city PrideGuide for Kansas City and St. Louis. This issue will be distributed at both festivals, and we hope it provides a new link to our LGBT communities throughout the state. PrideFest in Columbia, Mo. will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 13, in Stephens Lake Park; more information can be found at www.lgbtcoalition.org.

This PrideGuide’s cover theme is same-gender marriage and the triumphs of Iowa, our Midwestern neighbor, as well as Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont and Maine. New Hampshire is close to approving legislation even as you read this Pride issue, and California’s Prop 8 could be overturned. More states are coming on board for LGBT marriage equality every year. We can remain hopeful for Missouri, Kansas and more.

We would like to thank Rick Bumgardner of Kansas City Gay Pride and C.J. Saenz and Tyler Hill of PrideFest St. Louis for making this Gay Pride issue possible by providing us the information we needed. We also thank our writers, photographers, photo models, editor, graphic designers and advertisers for supporting this annual issue. We hope you enjoy it. Happy Gay Pride.
